Colorado native Chase Carter has been in the design industry for 25 years. Chase brings a minimalist sensibility to tableware and other useful objects, while embracing the subtle variations and imperfections inherent to handmade pottery. It is these unique variations in each piece that make them so special.

Clay found me four years ago, and from the very beginning, it felt like a return rather than a discovery. What began as curiosity quickly grew into a deep abyss of questions that I strive to answer- one by one, every day — a process that continues to shape not only my work but my way of seeing the world.

I create functional pottery designed to be used and loved — mugs, bowls, platters, and vessels that become an integral part of daily rituals. These pieces are not meant to be set aside or admired from afar, but held, worn in, and integrated into the rhythms of everyday life. I believe true beauty emerges through use: in the comfort of a well-balanced mug, the softness of a familiar bowl, the quiet joy of small moments made more meaningful through handmade objects. For me, there is no higher praise than when someone tells me, “I use your mug every morning.”

The Japanese philosophy of Ikigai guides my practice —The sense of purpose found in doing what you love, what you’re good at, and what brings value to others. Working with clay gives me that sense of meaning. Through each piece, I hope to share a small part of that purpose — offering work that feels grounded, sincere, and made with intention.

As a relatively new Ceramist, I remain a student of the material — always exploring, always learning. Clay continues to teach me patience, presence, and humility. Each finished piece is more than just an object — it is a record of time, touch, and the ongoing pursuit of meaningful, purposeful work.
